- Participants
There are two categories:
- Category I: boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 11.
- Category II: boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 14.
- Theme
The main theme of the stories will be centered on any aspect of the knife making tradition: the crafts; the utility and use of knives, holding knives and scissors; the trade; the workshop; the manufacture ...The jury will value the originality and creativity of the works.
- Works
Only one story per participant will be accepted, which must be unpublished and original and signed with a pseudonym.
- Submission
The story will be submitted using the model provided by the Museum (one copy per participant) written on both sides, at most. The data requested on this model must be filled out with the pseudonym and the age of the author. In a separate envelope, stapled to the story, the personal data of the author must be included: name and surnames, age, full address, telephone, the study center, the address and the telephone number of the center. The stories will be delivered during the opening hours of the Museum or they will be sent to the Albacete Municipal Museum of Knives and Cutting Tools, Plaza de la Catedral, s/n, 02001 Albacete. Opening Hours: From Tuesdays to Sundays -from 10 am to 2 pm- and from Tuesdays to Saturdays -from 5 pm to 8 pm-.
- Entry period
The deadline for admission of stories is 14 March 2020.
- Selection and jury’s decision
From all the works submitted, the jury will select three short stories from each category as finalists, according to the score awarded to them. The Museum of Knives will hold an event, on Thursday, 23 April, at 12 o'clock in the morning, in which the finalists will read their stories to the jury and the attendees. All the selected stories must be read by their authors. Otherwise, the jury will automatically opt for the story or stories that have obtained the next best scores according to the jury. After reading the stories, the jury will issue its decision, choosing the winning stories. The decision of the jury will be final.
- Prizes
The contest organizers establish a first prize - consisting of an eBook - in each of the categories and two second prizes –consisting of a set of books- for each category.
- Jury
The Municipal Museum of Knives will designate a jury for the reading of the stories submitted, which will be composed of people of recognized prestige in the fields of culture and education. A representative of the Albacete Municipal Museum of Knives and Cutting Tools will act as secretary, with voice but without vote.
- The submitted works will remain in possession of the Albacete Municipal Museum of Knives, which reserves the right to publish them.
